1997 - part 2 (and maybe 1998 also)

So it's becoming 1998 at some point here. I'm not sure when but let's just continue .. maybe it will come to me.

So we had shot a few Syndicated Jive episodes and at some point my cousin came out to Seattle. He was older than me but didn't have much so I brought him into camp carlos. Yep three guys in one room.

It was cramped but somehow we didn't kill each other. Not too long after it was all three of us in there I moved out into another room situation and my cousin and brother stayed there.

Shortly before I moved into that room I had heard from a customer at the video store that Microsoft was hiring.

I went and interviewed (via a temp work service) over in Bellevue WA. I remember thinking the building was a bit fancy and thought I might not even have a chance to work there. The big leagues. Even though it was a semi-shit position and I was GOING THROUGH A TEMP AGENCY. It was a big step for me though. My first entry into the corporate world.

I got the job and promptly gave my 2 weeks at the video store (although I remember still working some weekends for the store because of either guilt or lack of money -or both).

Working at Microsoft was one part awesome (free drinks -of all kinds, our own chef making different CHEAP meals daily, pool table, kegs and pizza hut for parties) and one part crap (answering the phones to field customer service calls on IE and Windows). I remember them keeping track of what we did at ALL TIMES. When we were on the phones, off to a bathroom break, put people on hold, everything. Then we had to printout a stat sheet of those #s and bring it with us into our managers meeting. It felt pretty awful.

I remember liking some of the simple trobuleshooting with callers, and a lot of you who know me probably remember my story about the lady saying her 'microsoft was broke'. And us later determining that her computer wasn't ON.
